Oil and acrylic on canvas
24” x 24”

The fourth of the ten pieces in the ’Manifest’ series. Alone in the dark, with no one else to put out the fire. But you’re resigned to it.

This figure was fun to do because, well, fire is fun to paint. And I also really liked the idea of having a very nonchalant pose to go with the burning head. The juxtaposition just kinda hit me in the right way. And, I mean, isn’t that how most of us react to our own grief and trauma?

“My world is ending, but I’m fine. Really, I’m okay. Thanks for asking.”
