Oil on canvas
20″ x 30″

This was a painting project from fourth year of university.
The concept I gave to the class was that I wanted to obscure the scene.
The world of sports is extremely obscured within the world of fine arts. Thus, I blurred and striated the painting, until you could barely make out what was going on.
That’s the reason I gave. In reality, I wanted to keep the painting as it was in the last work-in-progress I attached below. But my professor hated photorealism. So I abstracted it. That was one of the most frustrating parts of university, creating work that appealed to your professors for a better grade. It turned out alright, in the end. But I hated that I felt I needed to edit it.
Anyway, a classmate of mine said that the striations kinda made the piece look like it was on a VHS tape, and being rewound. I tend to agree.
