This is the seventh of the ten pieces in the ’Manifest’ series. A smiling visage, caught victim to the grief lying underneath, blowing up the mirage once and for all.

The glitch effect here might look familiar. It’s the same effect I was exploring with the ‘Tracking’ series I’ve been adding to since 2021 (see “Decrepit” and “Watching” further back in the gallery for examples). Using the same palette knife technique as those paintings, I hadn’t employed it on a close-up figure until now. I think it works pretty well.
