Acrylic on canvas
48” x 48”

The final piece in the isolation series. A polyptych: four panels, each 12” x 48”.
With this piece, we’ve come full circle. The figures are in full colour, rather than silhouettes, all dealing with their various versions of grief. All still wandering the wilderness. All while the world continues to move forward around them.
It seems a little depressing. How can the world just pass on by, not acknowledging your pain? But one can also find hope in that. That progression is still possible, despite that pain. It all depends on where you are on your path.
At the Station Gallery, this piece was hanging opposite from “Collapsing”, which made for a nice little contrast. With these pieces, I was going for a more impressionist look, rather than high realism. This has a little more realism than some of the others, but I still tried to keep things loose.
My sister wrote a song detailing her grief journey, using this piece as a baseline.
