I started out thinking about the different stereotypical jobs people hand out to different races. Focusing on black people, I have found that most people visualize blacks as athletes, entertainers, or blue collar workers.
Therefore, I painted faceless African figures with traditional jewelry and symbols that would make them kings or princes in their African tribes, while wearing the uniforms of some of the professions we visualize them in –
the athlete, the rapper, the entertainer, the custodian.
