This is the ‘Omission’ series.
Grief has a funny way of blocking out certain aspects of memories. They just disappear. Sometimes it’s for the better – like when grieving a breakup, you don’t necessarily want to think about the other person. But sometimes, it’s for the worse.
After my mom died, there were many times where I couldn’t place her in my memories. I knew she was there, I knew she had been at these events, but it was like a gap had opened. The only memories where I could firmly place her were from when she was in the hospital.
Fortunately, that was only a temporary thing. But for some, they’re never able to fill those gaps back in.
