At the time, this was one of the most personal paintings I’ve ever done. Inspired by a late-night conversation I had with a friend, this work depicted how isolated, imposing, and surreal the world can seem when one is living under the weight of insecurity and uncertainty.
I still like this, but I definitely feel like I’ve improved since then. This style would almost unconsciously pop back up in my painting about four years later, albeit much more refined.
