Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
While I attended university, I noticed that there were never any on-campus celebrations of Black History Month.
This drawing, and the next few projects I’ll be posting, were partially a response to that.
I mean, it’s a Canadian school, and Black History Month isn’t seen as big a deal here, but I still felt that it warranted some type of acknowledgement. I decided that if the campus wasn’t gonna celebrate my heritage, then I would. I also made it a point to post obscure black historical facts on my Facebook page during Black History Month while I was in school; one for every day of the month. A tradition which carries on today.
